New enhanced progressive eyeglass lenses Varilux Physio Enhanced, made taking into account the technology wavefront and pupil size data, will improve distance vision, in low light and at night due to sharpening and improving contrast sensitivity, providing a more natural perception of the world.
The pupil of the eye expands health or narrows depending on light intensity and distance, which are considered objects. In normal operation of the sphincter of the pupil is influenced by various factors: age, use of drugs, the presence of refractive errors and changes in pupil diameter. Development of eyeglass lenses for the changes in pupil diameter is the most difficult task for manufacturers, because the eye - is a dynamic system, and lens - static device. Using wavefront technology can improve the visual functions of patients using spectacle correction. By increasing the diameter of the pupil (for example, scotopic conditions), there is an increase aberrations, since the light beam enters the eye by passing through a much larger area of the lens surface. The greater the area, the worse the image on the retina. If the lens produces an aberration, it is automatically reduced contrast sensitivity and quality of vision, especially when there is low light.
To evaluate the effectiveness of polarization we conducted the study, which was attended by 9 patients with hyperopia and 21 patients with myopia, whose age averaged 52.9 years. Spherical components of refraction ranged from -6.24 to 3.25 diopters, visual acuity of each eye with a maximum correction - 0.8 and above. Patients received 2 pairs of glasses with a half: one pair - with lenses original Physio, another couple - with reinforced lenses.
After appropriate testing, most patients prefer to use glasses with enhanced polarization like under standard illumination (100 cd / m2) and at low light conditions (25 cd / m2). It should be noted that patients adapt quickly to the use of reinforced Varilux Physio Enhanced, than the lens Physio.
Reinforced Varilux Physio Enhanced provided almost complete preservation of the field (93%) and improving contrast sensitivity in low the light.
